October 31, 2015 (old-style factory whistle noise here) end of the week! Take a break, you’ll need it for November!!

Good work and thanks to everyone for making this last 30 days, the most successful October Gravity Challenge on record!! In the future people engaging in the Gravity Challenge (for fun and self-improving themselves) will look back on this October and we, this band of bloggers…can look back and say,  “These wounds photos I had took on Crispin’s day.”

ok, enough with the Dickens,

October 30, 2015 (time for a ‘Rocky’ montage, November is just a couple of days away!)

No, I won’t indulge in my YChrome trait of characterizing all self-development as battle/conflict/struggle against gigantic odds.

…well, maybe just a little?

We’re all looking forward to November as a time (in this here Gravity Challenge here) when, our work over the last months proves worthwhile. (Which, imo, implies a number of interesting things about how we, or most of us, look at reality, i.e. the value of our accomplishments is real and not predicated on any future utility, though within myself is the thought that, ‘all that work will surely pay off’. Well, hell, clark, it did. already. pay off.)

ok  enough of the metaphysics.  send the proof of your efforts today.

October 28, 2015 ” …the Voting is over, and the Winner is …. November Gravity Challenge by a landslide!”

I used a quote from a movie, ‘Training Day’ (no, you probably don’t need to go download it, if the name rings a bell, fine if not…. that’s ok). I enjoyed it, in part, because I like Denzel Washington….. but! the point is, it provided the catchy, if not mangled paraphrase, ‘November ain’t got nothing on us Graviteers!’)

I will say, being from Y Chromia, my first thought was, ‘damn! November sure is a food-intensive month! I better get my number down now, so I’m not so discouraged by the Pilgrim bounce. (Hey! the story is, you settlers, were, like starving and such, what say I celebrate by eating until I don’t feel so good!).

But then I realized what it is that we’re accomplishing here. In part, I think it’s encouraging the sense of weight being a number on a scale and not who we are (or, more insidiously, who we are meant to be, because that’s just how things are). We’ve all seen the changing of the numbers (over time).

For me, an even bigger benefit of participation is identifying with everyone else. Granted, it’s a very small segment, narrow bandwidth, if you will, identification. But, that’s the coolest thing about identifying with another person. It doesn’t matter how much, it’s simply a fact, that I know how another feels. (about one thing, for one moment in time. doesn’t matter).

too much talking (hey! I read somewhere that writing a post burns up…. never mind  lol)

October 27, 2015 Time to Vote! Another Month? It’s the most Challenging time of the year to…er Challenge Gravity!!

So lets see a show of hands…. Continue the Gravity Challenge into November?  I’ll say this, ‘if you don’t want to, we’ll understand’, After all, this period starts with Halloween (can you say ‘You want some Candy? little girl?’ and careens through tailgate parties and and ‘it’s so cold and raw out, we need something warming for dinner…. bring on the Dinty Moore!!!’ to the ‘I celebrate by eating food in thanks…for …well, for having food to eat’

So what’s it gonna be? One more month?

October 25, 2015 Weekend over, workweek begins and the real work is to look and not care (for today).

Send in your numbers and know that the change may (or may not) be expected, and that they (the numbers, not necessarily the changes) are not permanent.

October 21, 2015 (oh, damn! that means tomorrow is ‘wake up hungry Thursday!!’ ayiiee!!)

Yeah, you read that subtitle correctly! Tomorrow is wake up hungry Thursday.

Sorry, but it’s outside our control. And, no Sarah, skipping a meal during the day today doesn’t count, unless it’s the last meal of the day. And even that’s not necessary. Because this is about waking up hungry, not fasting.

Fasting is too easy. We all know how to fast and have tried it before and it doesn’t work. Mostly because fasting is the Puritan (lets make that ‘Shaker’ for the purposes of our little allegory) Ethic of weight loss. Big Suffering = big rewards.

Doesn’t work that way. (But then you all knew that already, didn’t you?)

Waking up hungry on purpose is more challenging and more effective and, ultimately more satisfying.

Everyone is different and you all know what to do so that, tomorrow morning you will wake up hungry. And when you do, (wake up hungry), you will smile to yourself because you have done a little thing (that has a ton of different uses and inferences and appreciations for us to ourselfs) and then you’ll go about the day, no longer hungry (because, like we just said,  this is not fasting), knowing that you have accomplished something.
